At Afri-Economist Business Media, we believe that meaningful economic progress begins with clear understanding. Since mid-2025, our monthly Afri-Economist Roundtable Discussions on X Spaces have created a consistent platform for practical conversations on business, finance, investment, and the everyday impact of economic policy in Uganda and East Africa.
These live sessions bring together financial coaches, economists, legal practitioners, and investment enthusiasts to unpack complex topics in plain language. The goal is simple: to help investors, policy makers, entrepreneurs, young professionals, and ordinary citizens make better financial and economic decisions.
What we have covered so far
Over the course of six Roundtable sessions, we have explored themes that matter most to our audience such as personal financial discipline, capital markets, and the real-life implications of national budgets.
- Personal Finance Foundations (26th June 2025)
Our inaugural session featured Financial Coach Arthur K. Moses Opio. The conversation focused on practical personal finance principles and laid the foundation for the Roundtable series. - Understanding the National Budget (31st July 2025)
Economist Keneth Asiimwe from CSBAG joined us to examine whether Uganda’s FY 2025/26 Budget adequately addressed the socio-economic needs of citizens. The discussion highlighted the importance of linking budget allocations to everyday realities. - Stock Markets Demystified (28th August 2025)
Counsel Achilles Kazibwe, a Business Lawyer and Co-founder of Afri-Economist Business Media, shared insights on investment opportunities in the stock market. The session aimed to reduce the intimidation many first-time investors feel about capital markets. - Unlocking Wealth Through Treasury Instruments and Stocks (25th September 2025)
In a role-reversed conversation, Achilles Kazibwe hosted Basalirwa Jonathan (Strategist at Afri-Economist Business Media) who is also an Investment Enthusiast. The discussion explored how ordinary Ugandans can access and benefit from Treasury Bills, Bonds, and the stock market. - The National Budget and the Ordinary Ugandan (25th June 2026)
With the reading of the FY 2026/27 National Budget, we convened a panel of economists including Dr. Peter Babyenda and Monetary Economist Emmanuel Okware — moderated by Basalirwa Jonathan. The conversation focused on taxes, prices, cost of living, and what the UGX 84.39 trillion budget means for households and small businesses. - Setting Clear Money Goals (30th July 2026)
In our recent episode, Arthur K. Moses Opio returned for a focused discussion on personal financial discipline and long-term goal setting. The session reinforced the practical side of wealth-building, highlighting three major points: clarity, consistency, and discipline.
